ROOFTOP APIARIES:
The term "apiary" is used when multiple beehives are within the same location. Our rooftop apiaries are just one of the many ways a company can help build healthy honey bee populations within their community. Bee Downtown will evaluate a company's rooftop to ensure it is safe and suitable not only for the honey bees but for the beekeeper who will be maintaining the hives as well.
When a Bee Downtown Rooftop Apiary is installed a company receives the entire Bee Downtown package. This includes, complete custom painted hives, honey bees for each hive, 1 beekeeper to maintain the hives, beekeeping classes for all interested employees, the honey from their hives, educational materials about the importance of honey bees and 24/7 support from the Bee Downtown team.
At this time Bee Downtown has two rooftop apiaries located at the American Tobacco Campus in Durham, NC and at Capitol Broadcasting Company in Raleigh, NC.
